One of the most important days of the year for women, Equal Pay Day is here. "Equal Pay Day was originated by the National Committee on Pay Equity (NCPE) in 1996 as a public awareness event to illustrate the gap between men's and women's wages." It's a firm reminder of how far into the year women must work to earn what men earned in the previous year. By getting involved in your community and demanding stronger laws to fight back on pay discrimination, there will be a time when we can bring equal pay to all women. Educate yourself, get involved, have conversations with your co-workers, stand and speak up for yourself. That way, we can all collectively play a role in closing up the gap on pay disparity. Women alone can do little, but together we can do so much.
